Research Learning Centers

Moore AuditoriumThe Schoodic Education and Research Center is one of 20 such centers throughout the United States, and the only one in the northeast.  It is the largest center, on 100 acres within a 2400 acre section of Acadia National Park on the Schoodic Peninsula. SERC offers researchers, students, educators, and other visitors lodging, dining, and meeting facilities.

Research learning centers were designed to facilitate research in the national parks and to provide educational opportunities.

 

 

SERC Goals

  • facilitate interdisciplinary research that enhances the understanding of the natural and cultural resources of the National Park System and related research at the regional, national, and international levels;
  • develop innovative education and stewardship programs designed to translate science into learning for people of all ages and abilities;
  • support collaboration and outreach among partners to promote science and learning; and
  • provide access to a repository of information and other resources for educators and researchers.
